Targeting reserve forces.. Moscow’s strategy for solving the “Battle of Spring”

– Published on:

Recent Russian attacks have been concentrated in the vicinity of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, where these points, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, have become reloading bases for the concentration of Ukrainian Armed Forces reserves, as personnel, ammunition and equipment of the Ukrainian army. The army arrives in these cities, then it is sent as reinforcements to Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Kherson and other sectors of the front.

Along with the recent target bank of Russian forces, in the past few hours the command and control site of Ukrainian military aircraft and drones in the Kherson region has been targeted.

The counterattack

The successes of the Russian forces in the face of any counterattack are due to preventing the arrival of modern Western weapons, following their tracks and obstructing the arrival of supplies, which has decided many battles , the last of which was the targeting of Ukrainian reserve forces. which advanced towards the city of Artyomovsk, in the Bogdanovka region of Donetsk, according to Oleg Artyovsk, a researcher for international affairs at the military institution “Volsk”.

Artyovsk added, in his statements to “Sky News Arabia”, that Kiev is relying heavily on reserve forces in its expected offensive, for several reasons:

• Most of these forces were formed outside Ukraine as a form of Western support for Kiev. • Attempt to stop the Russian advance with successive victories on the front lines. • Extend the life of the Battle of Bakhmut, which lasted more than 6 months. • Attempt to carry out side attacks to encircle Russian forces in the combat axes.

In addition to targeting and the bank of military objectives, Russia has made military changes at the leadership level in the past few hours, including the appointment of a new commander for the Baltic Fleet, and General Alexei Kuzmenkov was appointed Commander of Military Logistics instead. of General Mikhail Mizintsev.

The expected battle

Last week, the ground forces and aviation of the Russian army continued combat operations in the western districts of the city of Artyomovsk, and the artillery group “south” and units of the airborne forces supported Russian infantry forces and prevented Ukrainian attempts to carry out a counterattack from the sides, especially in Bakhmut.

Regarding the developments related to the Ukrainian counterattack, Dr. Basil Al-Hajj Jassim, a researcher of Russian-European affairs, said that the announcement of the approach of the Ukrainian counterattack and the promotion of the mobilization of modern Western equipment and weapons arouse concern in Moscow. anger at the idea of directing strong and successive strikes to prevent any Ukrainian reinforcement of the fronts, especially the southern front.

Hajj Jassem said in statements to ‘Sky News Arabia’ that Russia benefits from the strikes it directs against Ukrainian reserve forces, despite international criticism over the downfall of civilians following the missile strikes, pointing to a certain number of these gains:

• Prevent a counter-attack or reduce the pace of any advances on the ground from Kiev • Put the tide of the war in the hands of Russian forces and retain the lands annexed by Moscow • Limit military supplies from the West to Russia Ukraine and emphasizing their uselessness • Depletion of military stock and Western stores supporting Ukraine in the war.

It should be noted that to help Ukraine in its counterattack, NATO member states and their partners have provided Ukraine with 230 combat tanks and 1,550 other armored vehicles.
