And the Liverpool manager was shown a yellow card after celebrating Diogo Jota’s goal in stoppage time against fourth referee John Brooks, before accusing referee Paul Tierney of trying to ” avenge Liverpool” after the game.

Klopp said after the game he didn’t know what Terney was “towards us”, and also raised issues with the comments made by the referee towards him.

Klopp’s actions have been condemned by some, and the Liverpool manager tried to explain his behavior on Tuesday, on the eve of facing Fulham in the league.

The German coach said: “The whole situation shouldn’t have happened at all. It was out of emotion, out of anger at that moment. That’s why I celebrated the way I celebrated. ”

Klopp added: “After the game I tried to be calm. I said (in TV interviews): What (Tierney) told me was not good. I opened the box that I didn’t want to open. The rest are the things I said how I felt at the time.”
