Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation proposes new anti-alcohol measures

– Published on:

The Ministry of Health proposes to tighten anti-alcohol measures throughout the country, reports RIA News .

As the main measures aimed at combating alcoholism, it is proposed to increase the minimum age for buyers of strong alcohol (over 17.5 degrees) to 21 years.

In addition, Russia may reduce the time period in which it will be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages. It is proposed to ban the sale of alcohol at retail from 8 pm to 11 am.

Also, local authorities may be empowered to restrict the sale of alcohol on weekends and holidays, up to a complete ban.

Another proposed anti-alcohol measure is a ban on advertising, including hidden advertising, in feature films, TV series, and music videos. Of course, this measure applies to newly created visual works.

Such possible measures are spelled out in the report of the federal sectoral department on the results of work over the past year.
