Ted Cruz, a Republican from the state of Texas in the US Congress, announced the drafting of a bill that will aim to thwart Russian-Iranian military-technical cooperation. According to him, we are talking about the introduction of a certain list of new sanctions.
“Cooperation between Russia and Iran is large-scale, it is deepening. The (President Joe)Biden administration isn’t even trying to counter that,” he said during a speech at the Hudson Institute on Wednesday.
Cruz added that for this reason, he himself is working to gain support for the relevant bill.
The senator explained that the document involves “the application of existing sanctions relating to Ukraine against banks, tankers, planes, airports, ships and shipyards”, which would be used by Moscow and Tehran in cooperation in the military-technical field.
The day before, the Russian and Iranian sides signed an agreement on the creation of the Rasht-Astara railway corridor. The Heads of State signed the document confirming this.
