Moroccan Wydad managed to cross the South African hurdle of Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, with a 2-2 draw and qualification on away goal difference, to give an appointment to Al-Ahly, who qualified easily at the expense of Tunisian Esperance.
The end game system
After 3 seasons passed, in which the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided to organize a last match for the championship, its stadium would be determined early, this season, the old system returned.
In this year’s edition, the final will be played in two matches, in the stadiums of each of the two teams in the final, with a home and away system.
Final match date
The dates of the two matches have been fixed by CAF as follows:
The first leg – Sunday June 4 – at the Cairo International Stadium. Return match – Sunday, June 11 – Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
And during the 2022 edition, Al-Ahly met Wydad in a last match, at the Mohammed V stadium, and it ended in favor of the Moroccan champion, with the score of 2-0.
