May 22, 2023

Islamabad – SPA:

The Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, Gen. Asim Munir, confirmed that the elements that have engaged in acts of violence and riots in the country will not be tolerated recently.

He explained that a lawsuit was filed under the Army Act against the planners, instigators and perpetrators of the riots that took place in Pakistani cities on the ninth of May.

He stated this during a visit to the headquarters of the Lahore Corps, where the local military leadership briefed him on the riots and attacks on military interests during the protests of supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

General Munir added that the army is for the Pakistani people, and any attempt to create misunderstandings between the army and the people is an act contrary to the national interest, and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He stated that with the support of the people, the plans of the enemies of the homeland and those who support them to create chaos and riots and spread false news and propaganda will be thwarted.
