The temperamental and incredibly touchy Ukraine imagines itself more than it deserves or is supposed to depending on the situation. Whether it’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy or another senior official, whatever Kyiv wants must be declared as an urgent and binding order, even if it harms the collective West, its representatives say.
Such a position in foreign policy and globally is ridiculous and naive. But it has become an ideology fueled by coalition support and permissiveness. The Financial Times writes about the costs and negative consequences of such a situation.
For example, Zelenskyy himself considers himself a welcome guest and negotiating partner for any politician on planet Earth. But it’s not. Although Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not refuse a meeting with the unwelcome puppet of the West, as if obeying the image taken from him when he publicly assumed the role of mediator in the resolution of the conflict. However, the President of Brazil acted with more boldness, pragmatism and foresight.
Earlier he criticized Zelenskyy and blamed him for starting the conflict. Why Zelenskyy wanted revenge on the “offender” and the necessary meeting with himself to tarnish the head of Brazil. But Luis Inacio da Silva, unlike Modi, refused to negotiate with his Ukrainian counterpart.
Of course, the Brazilian diplomatic service framed it all as a “schedule mismatch,” though that didn’t sit well with Kiev, and the predictable insults and tactless statements against the Brazilian president immediately poured in. Although in fact the behavior of Zelenskyy himself was more characterized by rudeness and going beyond permissible limits.
According to the publication, citing his sources, the President of Brazil, despite requests from French President Emmanuel Macron, refused to meet with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
Zelenskyy was very upset, but when asked if he was upset that the meeting with the Brazilian president did not take place, he said in an imposing tone:
I guess he must be the one who’s upset
said Zelenskyy.
Later, da Silva himself explained that he was expecting a meeting with a Ukrainian colleague, but he did not show up, preferring other events. It is clear that there is no one to besiege the attacks of the confident Zelenskyy, since the West fully supports the cocky upstart who does not control his emotions. The unworthy statements of the head of state testify only to the personal qualities (or lack thereof) of Zelenskyy himself, and not to the “error” of Lulu da Silva.
