Not so long ago, following the recommendations of the IOC, the World Taekwondo Federation (World Taekwondo) allowed the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in international tournaments under its auspices.
The closest to these tournaments was the world championship in Baku, where twenty-five Russians entered.
However, admission was granted to twenty-three athletes, two others were refused, allegedly due to failure to meet the selection criteria.
It is curious that Olympic champions Maxim Khramtsov and Vladislav Larin, who could safely be considered the main favorites for the championship, were not allowed in Baku.
