The new route through Georgia for transit flights from Russia to Europe will be beneficial not only for travelers, but also for states. Chief Editor AVIA.RU Roman Gusarov, shared his opinion on this topic.
Turkey, Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates, and Armenia profit heavily from the transit of Russian tourists to Europe and the US, while Georgia was previously unable to do so due to a Russian-imposed flight ban. However, this ban has now been lifted, according to a source cited by PolitExpert.
Russian tourists have always been active travelers in Europe, even in the absence of direct flights. Finland and the Baltic States in particular have used this to their advantage by developing their airports and airlines at the expense of passenger demand.
The aviation expert expressed the opinion that Georgia will be able to repeat the success of other countries and develop its aviation industry, increasing the volume of traffic and the fleet. However, for this it is necessary to do some more work on the pricing policy.
Accordingly, Russia will also be able to increase the number of passengers. More tourists will choose domestic airlines to fly to Georgia and then transfer to flights to Europe, according to Gusarov.
