Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Explosions in Moscow… and there is talk of a drone attack

“The attack caused minor damage to several buildings and no injuries,” Sobianin said via Telegram, without giving further details.

He said authorities had evacuated residents from two buildings damaged in the attack.

For his part, Andrei Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow region, said that several drones “were shot down as soon as they approached Moscow”.

There was no immediate comment from Ukraine on the attack.

It is the second announced attack targeting Moscow, after Russian authorities announced that two drones targeted the Kremlin earlier this month in what was described as an assassination attempt on President Vladimir Putin.

For its part, Russia launched an attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, before dawn on Tuesday, as Ukrainian air defenses struggled to stop the drones, amid a wave of relentless Russian bombardment.

What happened in Moscow?

He heard the sound of flying drones and explosions, in conjunction with the Ukrainian air defense response to the third Russian airstrike on the capital in the past twenty-four hours.

Preliminary data indicates that Ukrainian air defenses destroyed more than 20 Shahed drones in Kiev airspace, according to the Kiev Regional Military Administration.

One person was killed and 3 injured when a high-rise building caught fire in the capital’s Holosev district.

The military department said the top two floors had been completely destroyed and there could be residents under the rubble, adding that more than 20 people had been evacuated.

Elsewhere in the capital, falling debris caused a fire in a private house in Darnitsky district, and 3 cars were set on fire in Pechersky district, according to the military department.

The series of Russian attacks, which began last Sunday, included a rare attack on Monday afternoon behind a cloud of white smoke.

Russian forces fired 11 ballistic and cruise missiles at Kiev around 11:30 a.m. local time, and all were intercepted, said Valery Zaluzhny, chief of staff of the Ukrainian army.

The military administration said debris from the intercepted missiles fell in the central and northern regions of Kiev in the morning, and also caused a fire on the roof of a building.

It was reported that at least one civilian was injured as a result.

And the Russian Defense Ministry said it had launched a series of strikes on Monday morning targeting Ukrainian air bases with long-range and precise missiles launched from planes.

The ministry said the strikes destroyed command centers, radars, aircraft and ammunition stockpiles.

The ministry said nothing about targeting other cities or civilian areas.
