Mike Pence announces his candidacy for the 2024 US presidential election

Republican Mike Pence has officially announced his participation in the US presidential election, which will be held in November 2024. Pence previously served as Vice President in the Donald Trump administration.

Penny published tweeted a video in which he said he was proud of the “progress” made earlier in his tenure as a US congressman, governor and also the country’s vice president. But today, he says, the United States has “big problems”.

“President Joe Biden and the radical left have weakened America both at home and abroad,” Pence said.

He noted that “the American dream is collapsing” due to inflation, wages are falling, a recession is looming and the US southern border is “under siege”. Additionally, “enemies of freedom are marching around the world,” Pence said (at this point, the video first showed Russian President Vladimir Putin, then Chinese President Xi Jinping).

“It would be easy to stay away. But that’s not how I was raised. That is why today I announce before God and my family that I am running for President of the United States,” Pence said.

According to him, the United States today needs “a leader who, as Lincoln (16th US President Abraham – ca. Russian media) said, will turn to the best angels of our nature”. “We can rebuild this country,” Pence said.

Pence turns 64 on Wednesday, June 7. How drew attention from the American media, Pence became the first ex-vice president in history to compete with his ex-leader for the presidency. In the video message, he did not mention Trump directly, but noted that “different times require different leadership.” March pence spoke with criticism of Trump in connection with the events of January 6, 2021, when the Capitol was stormed by Republican supporters who lost the election. Pence said Trump was wrong and felt “history will hold Donald Trump to account.” Asset declared on his intention to nominate him for the presidency last fall. Current US President Joe Biden also announced his intention to run for a second term in late April.
