Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the China-US People’s Friendship Forum, titled “The Bond with Kuliang”, held on June 28. In 1992, when Xi Jinping, the then top leader of Fuzhou, learned of the story, he invited Mrs. Gardner to visit China. In 2012, Xi Jinping, as Chinese Vice President, visited the United States, during which he told the story of Kuliang at a reception luncheon organized by American friendly groups, which caused a great response from people of different worlds in both countries. A China-US People’s Friendship Forum titled “The Bond with Kuliang” was held on June 28 in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province, with the theme “Inherit the torch of friendship and create a better future together”.
