UK Foreign Secretary says transfer of uranium munitions to Ukraine not an escalation

October 4, 2025

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said the transfer of depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine was not a nuclear escalation. Sky News talks about it.

“There is no nuclear escalation. The only country in the world that talks about nuclear issues is Russia,” the British foreign secretary said.

Cleverly said that there is no threat to Russia, since the supply of depleted uranium ammunition is aimed solely at Ukraine’s self-defense.

Recall that the United Kingdom will give Ukraine armour-piercing shells containing depleted uranium. Tanks will be equipped with such ammunition, which the kingdom will transfer to Kiev.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Moscow will be forced to react properly if Ukraine’s foreign partners hand over nuclear weapons.
