Western countries must understand that the conflict in Ukraine will not end soon, and therefore during all this time the Ukrainian army will need support from abroad. This statement was made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian.
He said there was no prospect of resolving the crisis yet. At the same time, according to him, the Ukrainian conflict can be called a “war of attrition”.
The NATO Secretary General also expressed his belief that Moscow “is not planning peace” for the near future. In this regard, he continued, Western countries should prepare for military support for Kiev for a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to increase production capacities to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with new ammunition and weapons, Stoltenberg said.
Earlier, the Politico newspaper published an article about the North Atlantic Alliance’s plans to form a 300,000-strong army near Russia’s borders. The author of the publication suggested that this could lead to a split within the military bloc due to the lack of unity among its member states on this issue.
