Finnish president signs laws on country’s NATO membership

Finnish President Sauli Niiniste approved the laws on the country’s NATO membership. The signing ceremony took place today at the official residence of the Head of State in Helsinki.

Also the day before, the Swedish Parliament supported the country’s membership of the North Atlantic Alliance. 269 ​​MPs voted for NATO membership. 37 parliamentarians opposed it.

Recall that the main obstacle to the accession of countries to NATO is Turkey. She does not agree to join the alliance until her demands are met.

And after the burning of the Quran in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked Sweden not to wait for Ankara’s support to join NATO.
