Peskov: Kremlin does not plan additional measures due to Arcturus strain of coronavirus

April 20, 2023

Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the emergence of a new strain of coronavirus, called “Arctur” and predicted by Rospotrebnadzor, an increase in incidence will not lead to changes in the president’s schedule and work style .

“There are no changes, and no additional measures either,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

He recalled that some precautionary measures continue to be in place in the Kremlin, the testing system is maintained, but there is no talk of reinforcement so far.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor official Anna Popova said that several Arcturus cases have already been recorded in Russia and an increase in incidence is expected in late May. The new subspecies, she says, is even more contagious than its predecessors and is able to circumvent established immunity.
