Scientists talk about the relationship between fasting and the health of the body

April 22, 2023

This is due to the corticosteroid hormone, which is able to rid the body of defective cells.

To reveal the connection between fasting and human health, it was possible for specialists from the Institute for the Study of Metabolism of the Max Planck Society, located in Germany. An article about this study was published in the journal Nature Communications.

Thus, the experts were able to reveal that fasting can activate the release of corticosteroid hormone, which is produced by the adrenal cortex, triggers the process of autophagy and, in turn, destroys “damaged” or defective cells.

Scientists note that this process contributes to the production of new energy, but before this study, experts believed that liver cells, on the contrary, lacked this same energy during starvation.

Experimentally, it was possible to discover that neurons send signals that prompt the body to eat, as well as signals that trigger the process of autophagy, which made it possible to establish the fasting-healing chain of the body.

Earlier, The Eastern Herald in Veliky Novgorod reported that a new strain of COVID-19 has been discovered in Russia, which is capable of shaking the “crown” of Omicron.
