Leeds United ended their 16 years exile from Premier League as 2nd place West Bromwich Albion lost to Huddersfield town by 2-1. Leeds United also clinched Championship title with two games to spare. The whites last top-flight game was back in 2004.

During 2003-04 season Leeds were relegated to the 2nd division as they finished 19th in the Premier League. The situation turned all the more adverse for Leeds as they sold their training ground and stadium to repay the debts. In 2007 Leeds were further related to the 3rd division as they finished at the bottom of the Championship. After spending three seasons in the 3rd division, in 2010 the whites were promoted back to the 2nd division.

Leeds’s financial crisis finally ended in 2017 when Andrea Radrizzini bought full ownership of the club. Under Andrea Radrizzini ownership Leeds United bought back their home ground, Elland Road. Despite attaining financial stability, the club’s performance was deteriorating, and their forgotten promise of a return to the premier league was looking blurry. In a desperate attempt to return to top-flight Leeds United appointed record 16th mangers since their relegation in 2004. The club found their ideal companion in 2018 when Leeds sacked Heckingbottom and signed  Argentinian Marcelo Bielsa as the new manager. The Argentinian also became the highest-paid manager in Leeds’s history.

In Bielsa’s first season Leeds were leading for the most of the season, but, a poor end to the season resulted in the loss of automatic promotion spot. They finished 3rd in the championship and were ultimately beaten by Derby County in the playoffs. After merely missing the promotion Leads were one of the favorites to win the promotion this season. And Leeds finally delivers this season and finally made a return to the top-flight football. With two games to spare they have just lost nine matches and conceded the least numbers of goals (34) in the championship this season.

Although the champions are already declared, the fight for 2nd place, which provides an automatic promotion to the Premier League is still on the table. Fight for 2nd place is a two-horse between West Bromwich Albion and Brentford. Brentford has the upper hand in the race as they have two games in hand.

From Premier League Norwich City are relegated to the Championship. With two more teams yet to confirmed Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Watford are fighting to stay in the top-flight
