Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Reuters: Washington will designate the Houthi group a terrorist organization. “The decision may be issued on Monday.”

The US administration plans to classify the Houthi group in Yemen as a “foreign terrorist organization,” according to three sources, told Reuters on Sunday evening.

According to two sources, the announcement to add the Iran-backed group to the blacklist may come on Monday.

This is not the first time that the group has been declared classified as a terrorist organization, according to a report published by Foreign Policy magazine last November.

There are concerns expressed by a number of organizations that this step will contribute to the Houthis standing in front of the entry of humanitarian aid to some areas in Yemen, which is witnessing the worst humanitarian catastrophe due to the effects of the civil war, and that the spread of the Coronavirus has contributed to worsening conditions, or to constitute an obstacle to negotiations For peace, the next president, Joe Biden, may intend to fight it with Tehran.
