Trump will lift the ban on the arrival of passengers from Europe

The outgoing US President Donald Trump intends to lift the travel ban that restricts the arrival of foreign nationals from Brazil and Europe to the United States on January 26. This is according to the sources of the Reuters news agency, which has this according to unnamed officials within the White House.

According to the media, the restrictions will expire on the same day and a new screening obligation will be introduced for all foreign tourists on their way to the United States.

The current restrictions have prevented the arrival of almost all passengers without US citizenship who have been in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland, or the 26 countries belonging to the Schengen area in the last 14 days.

The restrictions have been in force since March last year, but the ban on people coming from Brazil took effect in May. The stated aim of the measures was to curb the further spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

US authorities had previously announced that as of January 26, all arriving passengers would be required to undergo screening for Covid-19. If passengers who intend to go to the United States need to present negative results from a sampling or certificate that they have recovered from Covid-19. Passengers must be sampled within three days of their flight to the United States.
