In Almaty, a guinea pig was killed and dismembered during a biology class at a private school, reports zakon.kz. The practical vivisection course was held on February 17. The teacher gave an extra lesson in biology in 10th grade.
The video of the lesson was posted on social networks. After the video was made public, the city’s education department launched an investigation.
The teacher said that at the request of the pupils, she conducted a practical dissection session to show the internal organs of a guinea pig as part of the study of the anatomy and physiology section.
– Explanatory work has been carried out with the teachers of the school to prevent such events from happening again in the future. Recommendations were also given to the school administration on strengthening intra-school control and educational work on training in respect for the environment and the prevention of cruelty to animals, reported the press service of the Department. of Almaty education.
