Canadians are divided on the issue of the use of force against minors, according to CTV.
Now the country has a law that allows parents, guardians and even teachers, in order to maintain discipline, to back up their words with physical measures of influence on the child, writes AiF.
This year, the number of opponents to section 43 of the Canadian Criminal Code has exceeded the number of its supporters, according to an online poll. Thus, more than 50% of respondents were in favor of a ban on the use of force against children.
However, five years ago, only a third of the country’s population held these views. According to a 2018 poll, 34% of Canadians oppose the use of physical force against children.
It is premature to speak of repeal of the law, since the discussions between opponents and supporters of the amendments to the normative act are continuing within the government.
