Poland sent a special detachment to Ukraine, consisting of regular police officers. This is reported by the publication Wirtualna Polska. According to the media, the police will be engaged in demining the territory.
Although the very fact of sending Polish policemen and the operation in which they will take part are kept secret, information about this has always reached the media. According to Wirtualna Polska, the main specialization of the Polish security forces sent to Ukraine is the sapper.
The Polish press claims that the Ukrainian army is currently experiencing a severe shortage of sappers. Meanwhile, in the context of the upcoming counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, demining is of particular importance.
It’s no secret that during the special military operation in Ukraine, both opposing sides pay great attention to the creation of minefields. In addition, a significant part of the minefields has been laid by the Ukrainian army over the past eight years since the start of the armed conflict in the Donbass.
During this time, the situation has reached the point where even the Ukrainian army itself cannot accurately indicate all mined territories. Neither side currently has accurate maps of the minefields. But the Russian army has in its composition skilled sappers who are able to quickly clear the territory or, conversely, equip minefields, while the Ukrainian armed forces cannot boast of similar results due to heavy losses . Apparently, it is this circumstance that can explain the dispatch of Polish sappers from the law enforcement department to Ukraine.
