“I have great respect.” Naryshkin commented on the words of the CIA director about the “arrogant” tone of the conversation

The meeting of Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergei Naryshkin with CIA Director William Burns in Ankara in November 2022 was meaningful and took place in a comfortable atmosphere. This was announced by Naryshkin, commenting on Burns’ remarks about the “impudent” behavior of the head of the foreign intelligence service, transmits RIA News.
“I still maintain a positive assessment of the nature and results of the meeting with my colleague William Burns,” Naryshkin said.
He noted that he retained “great respect” for the CIA director – “both as a very experienced and able diplomat, and as a colleague, who perhaps does not yet have much of experience” in his position.
Naryshkin added that the meeting with Burns lasted two and a half hours and could not have been so long if “one of the parties behaved insolently, rudely, arrogantly”.
On February 25, William Burns spoke to CBS News about Sergei Naryshkin’s “provocative attitude,” which he said “reflects the own opinion” of Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the CIA director, the head of the SVR behaved with “a sense of arrogance and arrogance”, and the meeting itself was “quite depressing”.
The meeting of the heads of the CIA and the foreign intelligence service took place in Ankara on November 14, 2022 and was not announced publicly. According to Naryshkin, the discussion focused on nuclear security and military operations in Ukraine. Burns reported that it was about the risk of using nuclear weapons.
