RÚV reported yesterday that Elisar’s case from Sunday night was being investigated by police. In RÚV news, it was stated that the boy, together with other boys, made a dyraat at Eliasi’s house. Elias is later accused of sitting in front of the boys later that evening, attacking them, and dragging one of them to his house where he locked the boy inside. He held the boy for nearly nine minutes and refused to let him out. The parent of one of the boys had to break a window in the man’s front door to get in and free the boy.
As noted in DV’s report on the case, Elías has been charged with similar offenses at least twice.
DV heard that a vicious circle was created due to Elias’ reaction to the bells and whistles, which caused the children to find it exciting and desirable to do things with him. One resident goes so far as to say that the bullying and harassment of Elias goes back decades:
“Things are not black and white. I don’t know anything about this man except I only know that we all teased him, me and my friends. There is another side to this. bullied too. Her children were also bullied,” said a former neighbour.
