“I can confirm the exchange of diplomatic notes between Russia and the United States,” he said during the briefing.
Recall that Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in his address to the Federal Assembly, announced the country’s withdrawal from this agreement. At the same time, the Head of State signed this document the day before.
Earlier, US Deputy Defense Secretary Colin Kahl spoke about suspending Moscow’s participation in START. According to him, such a decision will not lead to significant changes. Read more about this in the article from the public press service.

In addition, the Russian leader’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the possible resumption of Moscow’s participation in the New START treaty. As the Kremlin spokesman clarified, for this, Western states should change their approach to the concerns of the Russian Federation.
Earlier it became known that Moscow would not reconsider its decision to participate in START until Washington changes its stance on the Ukraine crisis, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
