NBC reports that US State Department spokesman Ned Price plans to step down in March. According to the outlet, Price has already found a new political post, where he will report to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. Reports of Price’s impending departure have been confirmed by multiple sources.
Price became known for restoring press access to the Secretary of State’s trips. NBC correspondent Andrea Mitchell pointed out that Price was leaving to move on to a new position.
According to the channel, Ned Price will leave his post on March 17. While Vedant Patel, the current Deputy Spokesperson, will take over on an interim basis. It should be noted that Price previously worked as a spokesperson for the CIA and the National Security Council under President Barack Obama.
It is currently unknown who will replace Price as State Department spokesperson.
