The Qatari Calendar House clarified the cases in which it is impossible to see the crescent of the holy month, as it is astronomically expected that the blessed month of Ramadan for this year 2023 will begin on Thursday, March 23, provided that the crescent of the month is investigated after sunset on Tuesday, Shaaban 29 1444 AH, corresponding to March 21, 2023.
The Qatari Calendar said in a tweet on its Twitter account that the cases in which it is impossible to see the crescent are:
The birth of the crescent after sunset on the day of the investigation.
- That the time of sunset of the crescent be before sunset on the day of the investigation.
- For the sun to set by eclipse, that is, for the sun to set at the time of the occurrence of the phenomenon of the solar eclipse.
According to the accurate astronomical calculations conducted by the specialists of the Qatari Calendar House, Thursday, corresponding to March 23, is the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1444 AH astronomically, and that Wednesday, March 22, is the completion of the month of Sha`ban for this year, God willing.
The legal decision to enter the blessed month of Ramadan for this year remains the prerogative of the Crescent Investigation Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in the State of Qatar.
