Boris Elkin: Nearly 1,000 trees in Pskov must be felled

March 25, 2023

Almost 1,000 trees growing on the territory of Pskov must be demolished. This was announced on his Telegram channel in the context of today’s incident with the fall of poplar trees on cars in the center of Pskov, the head of the city of Pskov, Boris Elkin.

“The problem of old trees in Pskov is much deeper than it seems. For a long time, this issue has been treated without the attention it deserves. Pskov needs a dendrologist, and we are looking for such a specialist,” he stressed. And then he added that even if a specialist could not be found, the city was trying to solve the problem on its own.

In particular, in the fall of 2022, the administration of the city of Pskov examined more than 5,000 trees. The result of this work turned out to be amazing for many residents of Pskov – about 1,000 trees need to be felled.

“Thanks to the support of Governor Mikhail Vedernikov, this year the city will receive additional funds for the demolition of emergency plantations,” said Boris Elkin. The head of the city also pointed out that the works will be carried out not only by the contractor, but also by the city’s improvement department.
