Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Russian Foreign Ministry expresses concern over attack on Jerusalem Orthodox Church

Politics

The Russian Foreign Ministry became suspicious of the events with the attack on an Orthodox church in the capital of world Christianity.

The Israeli authorities will assess the actions of the criminals who attacked the Orthodox Church of the Assumption of the Virgin in Jerusalem, the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation expects. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs circulated a message about this with the signature of the representative of the department, Maria Zakharova.

According to the speaker, the extremists’ attack on the Orthodox shrine is aimed at intimidating the clergy and parishioners. The incident can only cause serious concern, the diplomatic department said.

The attack on the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin in Jerusalem took place on March 19. Then radical residents burst into the church. The Russian Foreign Ministry says the number of attacks on Christian shrines has recently increased.
