Mr. Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer), and Mr. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of the European Clubs Association, signed a renewed memorandum of understanding between the two bodies, during the 29th General Assembly meeting of the European Clubs Association, held today in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. This agreement, which extends until December 31, 2030, will strengthen the relationship between FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer and the European Club Association, and will grant long-term stability to the game at the level of clubs and national teams alike, according to what the International Federation of Football Associations said on its official website. This memorandum of understanding included clubs renewing their commitment, until 2030, to the international match calendar, which was unanimously approved by the FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer Council on March 14. The European Clubs Association confirmed its support for the Club World Cup in its new form, which will start starting in 2025, as it will include 12 European clubs. The same support for the idea of ​​​​creating the Club World Cup for women. The memorandum of understanding also included a reference to the program for distributing profits to clubs whose players participate with their countries’ national teams in the Men’s World Cup, as the amount granted will increase to 355 million US dollars in the 2026 and 2030 versions, after it was 209 million dollars in the World Cup in the 2018 and 2022 versions. In this regard, Infantino said: "It is an important day for the future of football and its long-term stability. I am very happy to renew and strengthen our cooperation agreement with the European Club Association, especially as it is one of the most important actors representing clubs throughout Europe."adding: "Obtaining the approval of the European Clubs Association on the new calendar for international matches provides the necessary balance between clubs and national football teams, and since we are on the verge of many exciting projects, such as the two FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer Club World Cups in their new format in 2025, and the FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer Club World Cup for Women, which will be organized for the first time, Close cooperation with clubs in Europe and the rest of the world is essential to the success of such events". For his part, Mr. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of the European Clubs Association, said: "We are pleased to sign this historic agreement that recognizes the central role played by clubs in football worldwide, and ensures that they are properly included in decision-making processes on issues affecting them.". added: "FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer and the European Club Association will deal more closely with the success of the Club World Cup in its new format, such as working on the sporting and commercial aspects of the 2025 edition and subsequent versions, including work on developing potential structures for commercial rights management.". Al-Khulaifi concluded: "We look forward to working closely with FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer over the coming months and years to ensure that the proceeds from the new and expanding competitions in men’s and women’s football are properly shared.".
