The Rajasthan government on Saturday announced a 4% hike in dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners, who will now get 42% DA from January 1, 2023. Earlier he was being given 38 per cent DA. An official statement said that the decision will benefit about eight lakh state employees and 4.40 lakh pensioners, this benefit will also be applicable to work in-charges, panchayat samiti and zilla parishad employees.
This increase will put a financial burden of about Rs 1,640 crore annually on the state government, the statement said.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the Center announced DA but it was implemented after a long time, while the Rajasthan government ensures immediate payment of the increased amount with the announcement.
Center has announced a 4% hike in DA for government employees
Amid rising inflation, the Union Cabinet on Friday approved additional installments of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central government employees and pensioners respectively.
The additional installments will represent an increase of 4 percentage points over the existing rate of 38% on basic pay pension to compensate for the increase in value. Now DA is 42%.
After the cabinet meeting, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that the combined impact on the exchequer due to both dearness allowance and dearness relief would be ₹12,815.60 crore per annum.
The move will benefit around 47.5 lakh central government employees and 69.7 lakh pensioners. DA will be paid at the updated rate of 42% along with the salary for March, while arrears will be provided for the months of January and February.
