October 3, 2025

Discussion of the new concept became the first item on the agenda of the meeting of members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation

President Vladimir Putin said during today’s meeting with permanent members of the Security Council that he signed a decree approving a new version of the Russian Federation’s foreign policy concept. The Head of State described the new Concept as a balanced document which will form the basis of the country’s practical actions.

“Today, the first item on our agenda will be to discuss the concept of foreign policy of the Russian Federation. Cardinal changes in international life have forced us to seriously adjust the main strategic planning documents, including the foreign policy concept of the Russian Federation, which describes the principles, tasks and priorities of diplomatic activity, “he said. Vladimir Putin opened a meeting with members of the Russian Security Council.

As TASS recalls, the concept in force so far was adopted in November 2016. At the same time, the work on the updated version of the document turned out to be quite long and difficult. At the same time, the draft of the new concept had already been submitted for discussion to the Security Council in January 2022, but at the suggestion of the Head of State, it was sent for revision.
