April 1, 2023

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the US reaction to the arrest of Wall Street Journal journalist Evan Gershkovich was “self-revelation”.
“It is…a self-exposure of the so-called ‘democratic society’, which simply manifests itself as a liberal dictatorship,” Zakharova told Rossiya 1 TV.
According to her, there is no investigation by the United States to find out the circumstances of the incident. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the administration of the American president has gone from place to threats against Russian journalists.
“If this logic persists in the public space, they will sow the storm”, concluded Zakharova.
Recall that on March 30 it became known that the FSB in Yekaterinburg arrested the American journalist Evan Gershkovich. The WSJ correspondent was suspected of having collected secret state documents on a Russian defense industry company.

The Gershkovich case is marked “top secret”. The WSJ correspondent does not acknowledge the spying allegations.
