Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Struggled to hold back tears during emotional interview about fateful accident – ‘It was brutal to hear those sounds’

Actor Jeremy Renner was involved in a brutal accident on New Years Day when he was run over by his snowplow. He had tried to help his cousin who had gotten the car stuck in the snow. Jeremy had gotten off the plow when he noticed that the truck had started to skid and was heading towards his uncle.

So he tried to stop the aircraft and landed under it and was seriously injured.

He opens up about the crash in a moving interview with media woman Diane Sawyer, where photos from the crash scene were also released and an interview with his neighbor who came to see the actor lying in his blood.

I would do that again

Renner says in the interview that he is determined not to let the accident haunt him. He has no intention of being a victim. He does not regret what happened. It clearly took a long time to remember that fateful day and what followed, and often during the interview the actor struggled to hold back tears.

“I would do it again because the car was heading straight for my cousin”

Renner says he was conscious through it all. He was lying there on the ice and asphalt and there was too much going on in his body for him to accept the pain of his injuries, but he describes this despite feeling pain in his soul.

He saw his other eye outside of him and realized it wasn’t good.

His uncle, Alex, then managed to jump into the plow and divert it. He then ran to the actor and thought he was dead. “It’s terrifying to see someone you look up to in this state,” Alex said in the interview. It was Alex who ran to the next house and asked the neighbors for help.

Renner reports that when he arrived at the hospital, he doubted he could survive this, as did the doctors, so he picked up his phone and wrote a goodbye letter to his family and told them about his last wishes. .

“Don’t make me live attached to tubes and machines, if my existence is to be based on drugs and pain relief, then let me go.”

In the farewell letter, he apologized to his family. The accident was his fault and he was sorry for causing all this pain.

The neighbor sure he’s dead for a few seconds

Renner’s neighbor Barb Fletcher, who came to see the actor at the scene of the accident, said she was convinced the actor was dead within seconds.

“He had blood pouring from his ears and his nose too. And then there was his eye, it looked like it had fallen out of its socket. It was brutal to hear those sounds, to hear someone literally disappear in front of you and you felt really helpless. It was the sounds of a dying person.”

Fletcher says she thought the actor would die in her arms.

“At one point I was holding his head – I didn’t take my eyes off him because I didn’t want him to pass out.” At some point it became very pale and took on a gray-green color. And I just felt in my heart that I lost it for a few seconds. He closed his eyes. I’m really convinced he died there for a few seconds.”

Fletcher was accompanied by her fiancé, Richard Kovatch, who also spoke to Sawyer and said Renner’s condition was alarming.

“It was the blood, the huge amount of blood, he was feeling so much and the sounds he was making… There was so much blood in the snow and when I looked at his head it was like it was broken and I saw white, I don’t know if it was her skull, maybe I was imagining it. But that’s what I think I saw.”

Surrounded by love in the hospital

In the hospital, Renner was surrounded by his loved ones. His mother sat with him and read aloud to him from a Stephen King book. She said in the interview that she wanted to make sure he heard her voice and knew she was there.

Renner says his young daughter was also with him and told him she was scared and loved him.

Sawyer also spoke to an intensive care doctor in the UK about the life-threatening consequences of Renner’s injuries, which broke more than 30 bones and sustained significant chest and head injuries. He broke 8 ribs in 14 places, broke his right knee, right ankle, left leg, collarbone, right shoulder and suffered fractures to his face, eye socket and jaw . A lung collapsed and he suffered chest and liver injuries.

“He will face mental and physical consequences and will need support and rehabilitation over the next few months to regain his former abilities.” He will surely have to deal with pain and stiffness in the limbs that were broken and stiffness in the chest cavity from the injuries there.”
