Ways to reduce the risk of contracting tick-borne encephalitis, which is activated with the arrival of hot days,
First of all, the department recommended Moscow residents to get vaccinated – to get vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis so as not to get infected if bitten by an infected insect.
There are also other preventive methods.
In particular, for nature walks you should wear special protective suits or closed clothing.
If it is normal clothing, the long-sleeved shirt should be tucked into pants and the trouser legs into socks and boots. Close the head and neck with a scarf. Don’t forget repellents and regular inspection of clothing and body.
Do not eat raw milk of goats, sheep, cows, buffaloes, in which the virus can be in the milk during the period of massive tick attack. In areas not favored for tick-borne encephalitis, you can only drink it after boiling, the department noted.
