The first children’s hockey tournament was held in Kalmykia

The first children’s hockey tournament was held in Kalmykia. The event took place as part of the 10th anniversary of the Tulip Festival and coincided with Astronautics Day.

Teams from the regions of the Southern Federal District participated in the tournament. Kalmykia was represented by the Dzhungar hockey team.

For our athletes, it was the first competition, the guys were very worried, but they showed resilience, dexterity and the will to win.

Hockey in Kalmykia is a young sport. Classes in the Ice Palace for children began to take place only a year and a half ago. About forty children attend training every day.

“We are developing this sport. We approached this very ambitiously and we want our guys to become real professional athletes in the future. So that they glorify not only their native republic, but the whole country, ”said Konstantin Batyrov, Minister of Sports of Kalmykia.
