April 10, 2023

In Irkutsk, a pack of stray dogs attacked a 7-year-old boy, the child was hospitalized. This was reported by the press service of the city administration.

It is reported that the boy received lacerations, after which hospitalization was required at the Ivano-Matreninsky Children’s Clinical Hospital. The incident occurred in the urban microdistrict of Irkutsk II.

The press service of the Irkutsk administration noted that daily monitoring of the territories where stray animals can presumably live is carried out and work is underway on the requests received from local residents. As part of the contract, the animals are captured, vaccinated and sterilized in the city, after which they are released into their former habitat. However, these measures are not enough for a positive result.

The mayor of the city Ruslan Bolotov, according to the report, repeatedly sent proposals on this issue to the Legislative Assembly of the region and the State Duma of the Russian Federation. It should be noted that the initiatives have not yet been accepted for substantive consideration by the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Earlier in April last year, a 12-year-old girl died from a dog attack in Sochi. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation noted that the animal was kept outside the enclosure and without security measures.
