Famous military doctor Jevich will be put on trial

– Published on:

The holder of the presidential prize for his participation in a special operation in Ukraine, military doctor Yuriy Yevich, will be tried. An employee of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Interior Ministry reported the surgeon to the police, believing that he had discredited the armed forces. Patriotic publications and Telegram channels call it nothing more than a denunciation.

Yevich gave a lecture “On the military-patriotic education of the population” in Kaluga. The doctor’s audience consisted exclusively of members of the National Guard. The speaker explained to the audience the principles of first aid at the front and also highlighted the problems of medical support at the front.

Following a three-hour speech, one of the security officials wrote a statement to the police. In four quotes taken out of context, the employee considered a provocation. As for the doctor, a protocol was drawn up on an administrative offense – under Part 1 of Art. 20.3.3. Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the RF armed forces). The case will be considered by the Kozelsky district court of the Kaluga region.

The patriotic-minded public defended Yevich with a united front. Many have suggested that the “informant” may not have a clue who is talking to him. Not knowing that Yevich passed through Syria and Donbass in 2014. That he went to the front line at the start of the OSV in 2022 as part of a volunteer unit of the Interregional Public Organization “Union of Donbas volunteers”. This past year, by presidential decree, he was awarded the “For Courage” medal for exemplary performance of military duty.

Some believe Jevic’s request was made on purpose. It is possible that behind the anonymous letter is someone who acts in the interests of Kiev.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy of Ukraine Oleg Tsarev pointed out the other side of the issue:

“The problem is not that they were invited to a conference, and then rewarded with a denunciation. And not that a senior official of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk National Guard, unlike Yevich, saw the front than on TV. The thing is, a less public figure could have been in Yevich’s place, and then we wouldn’t have known about this case at all.”

In this regard, the speaker urged not to rush to tougher sanctions in Russia. In particular, do not accept the amendments on life imprisonment for high treason. Under the vague wording of s. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, many people can fall, including even the authors of the initiative themselves.

In Russia, the percentage of acquittals is too low, recalled Tsarev. Therefore, before undertaking more severe punishments, it is necessary to build a competent work of law enforcement and judicial system.

“Because if this is not done, then the Abramovichs and the Fridmans, who fund Ukraine with billions of dollars, will be freed and people like Yevich will be shot,” the politician concluded.

Official authorities are generally silent so far. Support for the doctor was expressed only by the governor of the Kaluga region Vladislav Shapsha and the leader of the self-determined faction “A Just Russia – For the Truth” Sergei Mironov. In particular, the head of the region noted that the experience of a military specialist is based on real practice, which he received in combat conditions. According to the governor, “a civilian who is unaware of these conditions may confuse a healthy assessment with excessive criticism”. Shapsha offered to properly perceive the recommendations of professionals and expressed hope for a “righteous decision” from law enforcement. In fact, the law enforcement agency representative initiated the lawsuit. The date of the meeting is already known – April 18 at 2:00 p.m. Activists call on everyone who is not indifferent to visit the courthouse in the village of Przemysl in the Przemysl district of the Kaluga region.
