April 11, 2023

On the night of April 11, the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka erupted. The black ash cloud rose up to 20 km in height and extended 500 km to the northwest. Following the liberation in the village of Klyuchi (located 50 km from Shiveluch), it became as dark in the morning as at night. According to experts, the fallout of such a volume of ash (the layer was about 8.5 cm) in the village was a record since 1964.
