SK opened a case against Rostov-on-Don police officers for corruption

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that a criminal group of police officers who had been receiving bribes from entrepreneurs since 2015 was covered in the Rostov region. It is stated that more than 20 police officers have become defendants in the case.

“A criminal case has been initiated against officials of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Rostov region … for the crimes referred to in Parts 1, 2, 3 of Art. 210, part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization and participation in a criminal community; acceptance of a bribe). There are more than 20 people among the defendants,” the department’s press office said.

It is specified that this criminal group was led by the former deputy chief of police for the protection of public order of the Russian Interior Ministry of Rostov-on-Don Dmitry Rybalko, and that it includes local residents and employees of the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Since 2015, they collect monthly from three to 50 thousand rubles from entrepreneurs in exchange for their administrative non-responsibility. As a result of these actions, the members of the group received bribes of a particularly large scale in the amount of 25 million rubles.

Currently, more than 40 searches are underway at the places of service and residence of the suspects.

The day before, the deputy governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug was arrested on suspicion of accepting a large-scale bribe.
