‘Porridge in the soul and in the heart’: Kristina Orbakaite revealed Pugacheva’s unspoken thoughts

– Published on:

The most persistent part of the fan community fans however pulled the best outfits out of the closets and staged all sorts of cabals today.

Meanwhile, the daughter of Pugacheva and pop star Kristina Orbakaite herself, as a congratulation to her beloved mother, released the song “Alla will sing” the day before. The expressive move caused serious resonance – and not just among fans. Many were excited by the very fact of the “non-standard” congratulations.

These days, by the way, in one of the Moscow concert halls they performed and sang the program “Love is like a dream” – with bright orchestrations and a diligent soloist who, as best as she could, reproduced “good songs that don’t age, but become classics”, of which Pugacheva wisely warned many years ago.

Last year (when it was already anxious, but everything was just beginning), the same program was called “Surprise for the Prima Donna”. Today, no prima donna. During the whole evening of “wonderful songs written by Soviet and Russian composers, which we have listened to and sung with so much pleasure for many years” (from the host’s host), Pugacheva’s name was never pronounced. But the audience frantically applauded, flooded the stage with flowers, and a good half of the spectators came to the concert of “folk songs of Soviet and Russian composers” with a characteristic bouffant to the favorite singer …

Meanwhile, Kristina Orbakaite’s song message sparked a tsunami of heated discussion. The epic ballad, disturbing notes, piercing guitar riffs seem to continue the line of Pugachev’s own epic from the songs “Live in peace, country, you only have one”, “We are beaten, we fly” , and now – “Alla will sing”.

The song itself is half sung by the girl, as if in her mother’s name. Choruses – in the name of Christina, from which it becomes clear that the phrase “Alla will sing” is not sensational news that should be read literally, but a metaphor, a figure of speech:

Stones will fly from the sky – Alla will sing… Bullets will fly into the soul – Alla will sing To all who want to burn with the Sun – Alla will sing

The hit melody of the refrains immediately remains stuck in the language, but the most valuable thing in the verses is the verses, they are performed, so to speak, in the name of the hero of the occasion itself. Nominal call “daughter-mother”.

Whereas Ms. Pugacheva rarely speaks in public and is very measured (she sent her last public video message to fans in early March on Yellow Flower Day and congratulated poet Ilya Reznik on his birthday via social media), and sang in public for the last time in 2019 at their anniversary postscript concerts in the Kremlin and in Minsk, then the verses in the name of the mother in the song Orbakaite aroused increased interest, they are now considered almost the fateful statements of Pugacheva herself- even.

And “said”, among other things, Allah the following:

I wanna live like the wind Say it all in your eyes Diplomacy, baby, it’s not about me…

In general, there is something to listen to, think about, evaluate, discuss and even watch.

Of course, I’d love to get my hands on a no less epic music video for such a song canvas, but here, apparently, we’ll have to endure until better times. Now the song is accompanied by an expertly assembled video sequence emphasizing the best moments of “that same concert” PostScriptum, romantic images of Christina and Alla, everything is interpreted in a sunny tone and a positive mood, paradoxically not contradictory, but instead emphasizing the “optimistic tragedy” of the song’s inherent meanings.

The video also includes footage from a historic concert at the Hrazdan stadium in Yerevan in 1984, the first stadium show in the creative destiny of not only Pugacheva, but in general in the practice of the Soviet stage. The concert has long gained legendary status. Unprecedented and unprecedented for the then Soviet reality, the spectacle shocked stadium audiences, as well as moviegoers across the country, who first saw these shots in the 1985 review film “I Came and I Say”.

In addition to success, the film had all the “birth traumas” of Soviet cinema of the time – a faded picture, poorly written sound. Passionate in their field, video and sound engineers Dmitry Uspensky and Dmitry Kovalev, restored the film for Alla’s birthday last year, bringing the quality of image and sound to the very “world” level that the singer really deserved, she has always embodied this level. “The Eastern Herald” wrote about this work. It was to this tandem that Kristina Orbakaite entrusted the composition of the video sequence for the new song.

Unfortunately, the restored films (the Singing Woman from 1979 was also restored, the film has already won the superstar Pugacheva the title of best movie actress of the year, and itself became the best film of the year) exist in unique copies, one of which was presented to Alla Pugacheva in a special gift envelope.

The project is not “industrial”, only a limited audience, gathered last year for the Pougachev Printemps festival dedicated to the singer’s birthday, was able to enjoy it.

Meanwhile, in Yerevan, the idea of immortalizing the event in the history of the city, the country and the Hrazdan stadium with some kind of commemorative plaque or even a small architectural form is increasingly discussed, d especially since the capital of Armenia is famous for its “small architectural forms” and other extraordinary monumentalities in the design of public spaces. Each monument or bust is a fashioned masterpiece or unique piece of contemporary art.

And the main hit of street musicians on Northern Avenue (the central pedestrian promenade of the city) remains to this day “A Million Scarlet Roses”, interpreted in countless variations on traditional instruments: accordion, dhole (kind of drum) and duduk.

“We do not forget that one of the first steps of Alla Pugacheva on the big stage is precisely connected with Armenia, with her work, then still a young singer, in the jazz orchestra of the great musician Konstantin Orbelyan, and the concert at the Hrazdan stadium was a manifestation of our audience’s love for the great singer,” one of the “hit-makers” on Northern Avenue in Yerevan told The Eastern Herald correspondent …

In a conversation with The Eastern Herald on the occasion of the premiere, Kristina Orbakaite revealed the background of the birth of the song “Alla will sing”:

  • First of all, of course, this is my birthday present for my mother. But the song was waiting in the wings, and I’m very happy that, through this song, I have the opportunity to express not only my gratitude and my love to my mother, but also to the Woman who sang, sings and will sing – go on stage or not go out.

In our souls and hearts of people who love and appreciate her, she will always sing. His creative legacy is a song that cannot be strangled or killed. She is immortal, she cannot be depersonalized, erased, forgotten.

There are such moments in my mother’s work and mine – songs waiting in the wings. There comes a certain time when the song falls on time, like a spoon – at dinner. This song had already existed for some time, but either I was not ready to sing it, or the stars did not converge like that … But now I was ready – both morally and professionally, and it was boiling in my soul, in my heart.

  • If we talk about professionalism, I can’t help noticing a curious feature of your evolution as a singer – in some places you literally hear Allina’s intonations, but it’s also clear that he doesn’t it’s not a forced copy, which other singers, or even singers, sin, but something about the gene, apparently, the level…
  • It’s not for me to judge, of course, and yes, I’m not a parodist. Of course, I wanted to sing this song by myself, as a personal message. If certain notes are heard, it is not on purpose, we have not tried to do so. Here – thoughts aloud, a song-reflection …

It must be assumed that Alla’s own reaction to the song will be the words she first says to her daughter in a private conversation. One has the feeling that she will not scold her daughter, but rather that she will praise her.
