Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

A suspect in a large-scale leak of Pentagon documents has been arrested in the United States. Who is he – a pawn in a grand game or a solitary truth seeker?

The footage of the detention of 21-year-old Jack Teixeira, suspected of placing all of the sensational documents in the public domain, provokes the following simple logical chain in the viewer. If this is not a deliberate stuffing of misinformation by US intelligence, but a leak of real, specific military data, then the documents are real. And if they are real, we can trust what is written there. It’s forbidden.

First of all, many questions remain as to the origin of the documents. American media, for example, wrote that some of them differ from the originals – but by whom and for what purpose were the changes made? With some vivid imagination, you can come up with many different versions. Perhaps the leaked documents are still a game, stuffing disinformation with elements of truth from US intelligence agencies, trying to mislead Russia about Ukraine’s military capabilities and plans, and was the guy just made extreme? Or is everything agreed with him in advance, for reliability they will bully him, and then quietly let him go? We will not get carried away with speculation without solid evidence. But if such theories seem too complicated to someone, then it should be understood that, as many American experts point out, Joe Biden personally made a very big bet on Ukraine, on which the historical balance sheet of his presidency. Therefore, the stakes for the Americans are high and their willingness to play a tough game against Russia should not be underestimated.
Second, if the documents are still real, that does not mean that what is written there is the ultimate truth. U.S. military and intelligence agencies can also make mistakes – both intentionally, as was the case with the falsification of weapons of mass destruction data in Iraq in 2003, and out of lack of professionalism – as was the case in 2020, when the Americans catastrophically underestimated the strength of the Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) and the stability of its henchmen in Afghanistan. In both cases, the reality turned out to be profoundly different from the facts and projections of US intelligence documents. About the actions and plans of the same Ukraine, as the Americans themselves admitted, they know far from everything.

All of this should be kept in mind when reading the current leaks – these are just pieces of the information jigsaw that should be assessed with the bigger picture in mind, and on which it is extremely dangerous to rely on as the sole source of information.
