Mumbai Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has written to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) seeking details of investigations against some Adani group companies. The letter written by Chaturvedi, dated April 18, was posted on Twitter on Thursday.
He said that SEBI had started investigation in 2021 against some companies of Adani Group. However, SEBI has neither filed any ‘closure report’ nor given any reason for the delay. Chaturvedi said in the letter, the details of the investigation and the reasons for the delay in completion of the investigation should be made known to the general public. The regulator should also look into the allegations of manipulation of share prices by the concerned entities.
Chaturvedi, a Rajya Sabha member, said this would ensure transparency and investor confidence. American research company Hindenburg Research has accused Adani Group of stock manipulation and fraud. The Adani Group has denied the allegations. The Congress along with 18-19 parties including the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has demanded a joint parliamentary committee to investigate the matter.
