The SpaceX launch pad in Boca Chica, Texas will be restored within two months of the Starship spacecraft’s test launch. This was announced on Twitter by company owner Elon Musk.
“Looks like we could be ready for a new launch in a month or two,” the American entrepreneur wrote.
The largest Starship rocket exploded after launch on April 18 at an altitude of about 40 kilometers. The launch was watched by millions of people around the world.
Astronautical historian Igor Afanasiev suggested in an interview with Zvezda that after take-off an abnormal situation arose with the control system, after which the launch vehicle was remotely destroyed for safety reasons. Later, SpaceX said the Starship rocket had indeed been deliberately dismantled.
Starship is the largest rocket in the history of space exploration. With the Super Heavy booster it reaches a length of 120 meters. The rocket was lifted off the launch pad by 33 Raptor engines. Musk plans to use this carrier in the future on flights to the Moon and Mars.
