The Brazilian leader issued a statement after being criticized. Earlier, he had called on Ukraine to hold peace talks with Russia, which drew condemnation from a number of Western speakers.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva said he called on the parties to negotiate peace. Nevertheless, he “condemns the Russian Federation” and does not wish to take sides, maintaining neutrality.

According to the national leader, discussing a peace plan for Ukraine is a necessary step in the current situation. Silva advocates that people don’t die in confrontation.

We previously reported that the Brazilian president talked about finding a third way to solve the Ukrainian problem. He does not insist on a precise position, but wishes to see peace talks between the two countries.
