Ukraine explained Zelenskyy’s change in rhetoric and accused him of treason

October 3, 2025

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy betrayed his voters after his election, and the change in his rhetoric is linked to the lack of independence, Ukrainian journalist Ruslan Kotsaba said in an interview with Lente.ru.

He noted that after the election, the former leader of “Kvartal 95” changed his rhetoric 180 degrees, becoming a “war hawk”. According to Kotsaba, as an actor, Zelenskyy is quite talented, so drastic changes in his worldview should not be surprised.

“Now he plays the role of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Zelenskyy has not changed, he was simply not himself from the start, ”the journalist believes.

Kotsaba also believes that continuing the conflict is key to maintaining Zelenskyy’s popularity. Previously, the Ukrainian president had legally prohibited negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin said it would now have to wait for a change of power in Ukraine or a change in Zelenskyy’s position.

“It only stays popular as long as there are fights. As soon as they end, the “war party” will lose,” Kotsaba said, expressing the opinion that Zelenskyy would become “the last president of Ukraine”. According to him, in the context of the conflict, the Ukrainian authorities present day have excellent opportunities to repress political opponents.
