US prepares plan to return Ukraine to 1991 borders

– Published on:

Representatives of the American Republican and Democratic parties are preparing a bill obliging Ukraine to return to the 1991 borders and end the conflict on its territory.

According to Yahoo News, the resolution will be considered by the House Foreign Affairs Committee and underscores the United States’ desire to see Ukraine defeat the alleged invasion and restore internationally recognized borders.

The document, sponsored by Republican Joe Wilson and Democrat Steve Cohen, also calls for Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO and asks Moscow to pay compensation to Kiev.

Meanwhile, US Army Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer expressed the view that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is using the situation around a possible Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive to lure NATO into the conflict. The expert also claims that the Ukrainian leader is trying to force NATO and its allies to participate directly in the conflict, using the tactic of a “helpless young woman” and talking about the lack of weapons.
