Talk show host and actor James Corden hosted The Late Late Show for the last time. Admitting he’s never felt the way he does now, he revealed the real reason he left the show.
James gave an interview to Radio 2 the night the final episode aired where he explained how this transition was affecting him.
“It’s weird feelings. I’ve never felt like this before,” Corden said, explaining that he certainly hadn’t played a role in a long time before, but was on The Late Late Show for 8 years and recorded twelve hundred episodes.
Corden explained why he made the decision, admitting he wasn’t going to spend his last day crying, but rather looking back and enjoying the journey that was coming to an end.
“We’re going to leave with a bang, the last shows we’ve done have been great and the vibe on set has been great, we’ve got huge celebrity guests doing stuff and tomorrow’s show is going to be fantastic.” I want to enjoy and not spend the day crying. I want to feel proud and grateful for it all.”
Corden says he was skeptical when he first took the job that Americans would be okay with having someone British on TV. However, this turned out to be an unfounded fear and it was extremely well received.
He said it was a great job and a good experience, but what made the difference for him were his children. They grew up and lived with him in the United States for a few years. However, their extended family is in the UK and Corden wants them to be able to spend time with loved ones before the kids leave home. He and his family are already preparing to return home to the UK. The actor says he’s not sure what will happen to him, but it’s also exciting. He will probably rest for a while after the adventurous years in the United States. His life changed forever after this opportunity and he leaves satisfied and happy.
