Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Russia won’t meddle with the West, but it won’t follow its rules either

Russia has no intention of interfering in the internal affairs of Western countries, but neither will it follow the rules they impose. Such a statement on Friday during a speech to the Council of Legislators of the Federal Assembly was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The head of state recalled how “the former partners (of Russia) in certain countries” were desperately trying to convince the leaders of other states of the need to follow their views. However, such attempts, the President stressed, have a devastating effect on the legal framework and the channels of dialogue.

“We’re not going to crawl under their covers, but we’re not going to follow their rules either,” Putin said.

At the same time, the Russian leader stressed the increased intensity of international contacts. He called this a positive trend, noting that Russia has no intention of “isolating itself”.

The president also touched on the country’s plans for the near future during his speech. According to him, the Russian Federation will continue to advance towards its major goals.
